• Use of Internet-Enabled Devices During the School Day Draft Policy and Community Feedback Opportunities.

Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, all schools in NYS are required to adopt a policy prohibiting student use of internet-enabled electronic devices during the school day. This means students will not be permitted to use devices capable of texting, accessing social media, or connecting to the internet during the school day, from arrival to dismissal, including lunch, recess, and passing periods. The Avoca CSD is currently in the process of updating our policy language to align with this new requirement.

Below are links to the law and Avoca’s draft policy:

We value your input as we finalize this policy. Parents and students will have two opportunities to provide feedback on the draft policy:

    • Parents and students are encouraged to provide feedback through an online form:  Use of Internet-Enabled Devices Community Survey Form

    • The District will also be hosting an in-person community forum on Wednesday, 7/23 at 6:00 p.m. in the Bus Garage Conference Room. This will be another opportunity to offer feedback and ask questions.
