• 23-24 Calendar revised 11/21/23
At the Board of Education meeting on November 21, 2023 the board approved a change to the district calendar for Monday, April 8th.  This day will now become a half day for students with an 11:45 departure.

One might ask why are we having a half day on April 8th?  Well if you haven't heard yet there will be a once in a lifetime complete solar eclipse that afternoon during our normal dismissal time at approximately 3:20 pm.  Although complete darkness will last only 2-3 minutes there will be a time of partial darkness both before and after the complete solar eclipse.  I have been meeting with my fellow Supt. colleagues and Steuben County Emergency Management for the last several months learning about the potential impact for us as parts of New York to the north west will be prime viewing areas to see the total solar eclipse for the longest period of time.  There is potential for significant impact from increased visitors to the areas with the greatest viewing potential on that day--not only for the longest duration of the eclipse but also based on the weather factors for that day.

On this day there will be no:
    • Athletic Practices
    • Athletic Contests
    • After school programming
    • No late buses
    • No events or use of the school facilities after 12:00 pm.
    •
Solar eclipse glasses will be distributed that day.
