After taking a COVID-related hiatus, Avoca hosted its 2nd Color Walk/Run to kick off Homecoming this weekend. The event was sponsored in collaboration between both Avoca and Prattsburgh organizations: Avoca's Sports Boosters and Prattsburgh's Student Council.
The night kicked off at 5:30PM with students, families, student-athletes, faculty and staff members, coaches, and community members from both communities checking in to participate in the run. At around 6PM, the 1-mile run began at Avoca's Athletic Complex and looped around the majority of the school's campus. At various points of the course, adults were stationed to throw colors onto those running by. Participants finished back at the Athletic Complex doused in various vibrant colors!
After the run, concessions were available, a Design-A-Sign booth where participants could make a sign for Friday's soccer games in Cohocton, and of course the well-attended Pie in the Face area. Runners could pay $1 for a pie to throw at an assortment of victims: administration, coaches, and teachers.
The event was well-attended, and the overall air of the event was filled with spirit, inclusivity, and fun! Many are already looking forward to next year's event...maybe not the Pie in the Face victims though.
