Remote Learning Continues Through End of School Year

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced during his May 1 press briefing that New York schools will remain physically closed and continue with remote learning through the end of the school year to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Our teachers have been in contact with students and their families to provide instructional materials and will continue to do so throughout this extended remote learning period in accordance with the district’s plan for continuing instruction. A reminder that we will have our next distribution of learning materials on Tuesday, May 5th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at our bus loop entrance.

The district’s food service department will continue to provide meals on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We appreciate families’ patience and flexibility during this time. We know this is a challenging time for everyone. The district will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

    ThoughtExchange Thank You
Thank you to everyone who participated in the ThoughtExchange this week.  More than ever, it takes every one of us to provide our students with the best possible learning experience while we adapt to new ways of delivering instruction and engaging with one anotherUsing guidance from the feedback provided through ThoughtExchange as well as other forms of communication, we will continue to tweak our part of this experience. As we forge ahead and more decisions need to be made, additional questions may be posed through ThoughtExchange. Thank you in advance for your continued participation.

    Recognizing Seniors

Thank you to the community, who has come together to help recognize our seniors in a variety of ways! There are several groups that are working to ensure our students are celebrated on their final year of high school. Check out this link to see a video of some seniors in their quarantine shirts

    Marking Period 4 Grades

For the fourth marking period, students will be assessed on a 1,2,3 scale. This is true for both their overall fourth marking period grade, as well as assignment grades. The scale is as follows:

    • 1 - Not meeting standards/failing
    • 2 - meeting standards
    • 3 - exceeding standards/excellence.

ACE (college-credit) courses will continue to receive a numeric grade. Students are expected to continue with their at-home learning, and keep up with their assigned coursework.

    Material Distribution Round 3

Our next round of material distribution will be Tuesday, May 5th from 11:00am-5:00pm on the bus loop side of the building. These materials address Wednesday, May 6th through Friday, May 29th.

    Library Return

Any student that has school library materials at home may return them to school during the Round 3 Material Pick-Up.

    Spring Sports Cancelled

Section V and its member schools have cancelled all remaining spring sports. While continuously remaining hopeful for some type of regular season play, the complexity of the current health crisis will not allow us to do so.

Kathy Hoyt states: "As Executive Director of Section V athletics, I want to commend the school districts, athletic administrators and coaches for their dedication to the student athletes during this very challenging situation.  Most importantly, I want to acknowledge the resiliency and commitment of our wonderful student athletes. They have remained focused and positive throughout. Section V would like to wish all our seniors the best of luck as they prepare to begin their next chapter in life.  It is our hope that your time spent as an athlete is Section V was enjoyable and rewarding. Class of 2020 – thank you for the wonderful memories!!!"
