Change to Spring Recess
Our scheduled Spring Recess was next week, April 6-10. As per the New York State Governor Executive Order, schools were directed to continue to supply food service, and at-home learning through April 15th. Next week, we will continue with our Phase 1 of instruction. Students will continue to review material previously learned in their classes. Teachers will be available through their office hours, and ACE instruction will continue. Phase 2 of at-home learning will begin on Monday, April 13th.
Phase 2 - Continuity of Instruction
Beginning April 13th, we will begin Phase 2 of at-home learning. The notable change will be the introduction of new learning. While we previously have been reviewing material already learned during the year, we will now progress with new content. It is not our expectation that parents become the teacher, and replicate what would be done in a classroom. Resources and materials provided will help the children learn new material. We're asking for parent support in the following areas:
- Please ensure your children are regularly checking their school email, Remind, and GoogleClassrooms. These are the teacher's primary methods for communication.
- Office Hours are available for all classes. If your child needs assistance with a class, please contact the teacher.
- While some children may prefer to sleep in, please ensure your child follows a schedule that would enable them to connect with their teachers during their office hours, which vary from 8am-2:30pm.
Today (April 3rd), you should have received a phone call inquiring about paper-based, or internet-based work preferences for your children. Teachers will be collecting materials for the next phase of learning, which will be available for pick-up on April 13th. More information about pick-up will be forthcoming. At this point, schools are scheduled to re-open on April 15th, but we anticipate this date to be reevaluated. Teachers are planning enough instruction to cover April 13-May 1.
Vote and Election Delayed
New York state school budget votes and board of education elections will be delayed until at least June 1, 2020, according to an executive order released by Governor Andrew Cuomo on Monday, March 30, 2020. View the executive order here. The order specifically says, “Any school board, library board, or village election scheduled to take place in April or May of 2020 is hereby postponed until at least June 1, 2020, and subject to further directive as to the timing, location or manner of voting for such elections.”
Please be aware, we are not disinfecting or cleaning the playground. Our school athletic campus, playground and school grounds are closed to the public.

Freshman Pasta Orders
All pasta orders that were not picked-up from Mrs. Rodbourn's home are now at the school. Please contact email@example.com if you would like to make arrangements for pick-up. With all of the pasta boxes, there are instructions provided for students to distribute the order. All orders should be delivered with no contact to the customers. If you would like to wait to pick up and deliver your orders, that would be fine as well.
Updated Office Hours and ACE Times
Beginning the week of April 13th, Middle and High School teachers office hours have been updated. This update is to prevent overlap of courses wherever possible for students' core academic classes. Additionally, ACE contact times have also been updated beginning the week of April 13th. Check out the new office hours here. To contact teachers, use the links below:
If you need to contact the school during the extended dismissal, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 607-566-2221 *1125.
School Library Month
April 2020 has been designated the 35th annual national School Library Month! ACS knows that school libraries provide materials for teachers and students that will encourage growth and knowledge, provide materials that will develop literary, cultural, and aesthetic appreciation, as well as provide books to encourage children to read for pleasure. This month we celebrate our library, and our librarian, Mrs. Kilbourne! Thank you for all you do!
