Welcome to the Avoca Central School DistrictThe district covers approximately 92 square miles. Students from the towns of Avoca, Bath, Howard, Fremont, Cohocton, Prattsburgh and Wheeler make up the school population. The village of Avoca is located near the intersection of Interstate 390 and Route 17 on the Southern Tier Expressway, Steuben County, New York. The population is approximately 4,000. It is approximately halfway between Rochester and Elmira. Excellent hunting and fishing opportunities are available. The Finger Lakes are within easy driving distance, as are Swain and Bristol Mountain Ski Centers. For shopping and city life, Corning, Hornell, Elmira and Rochester are easily accessible. Many institutions of higher education are within a 75-mile radius of Avoca. They include the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, Houghton College, Nazareth College, St. Bonaventure University, Alfred University, Elmira College, Ithaca College, Cornell University, State University of New York at Geneseo, Mansfield State College, Corning Community Collegeand Alfred State College.
